  1. Can I get a conducted tour of the CRF?
    Informal tours for public and private organizations, such as educational institutions and engineering and scientific societies, can be arranged through the CRF Operations Department. Sandia's California Site does not maintain a Visitor Center and has no formal tour program for individual visitors.

  2. How do I become a facility user or visiting researcher at the CRF?
    Contact the Principal Investigator or Manager in the area in which you are interested.

  3. I am interested in full-time employment at the CRF as a researcher or post-doctoral fellow. How do I apply?

  4. What opportunities are available for students at the CRF?
    Undergraduate and graduate students can work at Sandia as student interns. Check the Sandia job postings as well as the student programs website for more information.

  5. Are foreign nationals permitted access to the CRF?
    Yes. Certain restrictions apply to all visitors, of course, and are explained upon arrival.

  6. Can the CRF support me financially?
    In some cases the research programs can provide cost-of-living allowances based upon the visitor's needs and expected contribution to the science of the CRF.

  7. Is proprietary research possible at your facility?
    At present the CRF does not open up the labs for proprietary research by outside organizations. However, Cooperative Research & Development Agreements (CRADAs) have been used for collaborative research involvingproprietary research. Contact the appropriate Principal Investigator or Manager.

  8. Does the CRF work with non-federal entities?
    Yes, the CRF can conduct for a non-federal sponsor through Work for Others (WFO) agreements.

  9. Does the CRF test engines?
    No. However the CRF has an extensive program for the study of combustion in both spark fired and diesel reciprocating engines.

  10. Does the CRF conduct research on turbine engines?
    No

  11. Does the CRF perform research of a classified (confidential or secret) nature?
    No. The CRF is an open, unclassified area at the Sandia California site.
